Northern Virginia
Aircraft Painting for Northern Virginia Owners
From Manassas (KHEF), Leesburg (KJYO), Warrenton (KHWY), or Stafford (KRMN), Chesapeake is about an hour of flying — and a world away from DC-area shop pricing.
Our aircraft painting facility is located at Hampton Roads Executive Airport (KPVG) in Chesapeake, Virginia. We serve aircraft owners from Northern Virginia by appointment at our Chesapeake facility — we do not maintain a paint facility in Northern Virginia.
An hour south, without the SFRA
NoVA pilots live with the most procedurally complex airspace in the country. The flight to KPVG runs the other direction: out from under the SFRA, down the Northern Neck or the I-95 corridor, into straightforward Hampton Roads GA territory. Call it an hour from Manassas in a typical single.
Northern Virginia has plenty of aircraft owners with the means to paint and few sensible places to do it — DC-area overhead makes local exterior work expensive when it exists at all. Repositioning south is how the smart money does it.
Making the trip count
Because the flight is longer, we front-load everything: quote, design decisions, and scheduling are settled before you launch, and your arrival is timed to the production slot. Many NoVA owners pair the drop-off with a Virginia Beach or OBX weekend and get a ride home from there.
Questions from this market
How long is the flight from Manassas or Leesburg?
Roughly an hour to an hour and ten minutes to KPVG for a typical piston single, depending on routing and winds.
Is KPVG complicated to get into?
No — it is a straightforward general aviation field in Chesapeake with none of the DC-area procedural overhead you are used to. Arrival details are coordinated when your project is scheduled.
